2016 Keystone Passport Slide

Take a look on the outside of the slide. Does it have cables? If it does you are probably doing it correctly. It is always easy to check by looking at the slide on the outside and seeing if it appears to be completely sealed when closed.

If yours has no cables you may need to hold the button until you hear the motor ratchet when fully retracted. Of course this is only guesswork. You really need to call your dealer and ask the proper procedure for closing. If you were doing it correctly, take it in and have them see what is causing the problem.

Thank you for your reply. It does have cables. It seems like the right side of the slide seals completely up against the seals and the left side isn't as tight but appears to be touching the seals. If I keep pushing the button down, the left side will get even tighter.

I have the Cougar which is also a Keystone product. One of the slides is the cable style like yours. I was told to retract until the motor strains and the lights dim. Very unscientific but it works.

Did you bring the slide in while wet? If so that could be the source of the water. Since yours is a '16 I'm assuming it is still under warranty. If you can't determine the source yourself, get it back to the dealer and get it documented while under warranty since it might take a couple times in to figure it out.

I didn't bring it in wet. We left for our trip a week and a half after the rain storm and when we got to the camp site my wife noticed the carpet was wet. Luckily, it didn't smell like mill dew.

Could there be any damage to the floor you think?

I agree, I will most likely take it into the dealer.

With my passport, that has the cables as well, I usually bring the slide all the way in, essentially until the motor stops. Basically once in, I usually give it a couple extra clicks. You can tell its all the way in because the motor pretty much doesn't turn anymore and the slide doesn't jerk anymore.

Maybe this isn't the proper way to do it, but from listening and seeing the action I don't feel like the motor is really "straining" or anything, just that its reached the end of travel.

What I would do is make sure the carpet is dry and pull the slide in until you feel that it is all the way in. At that point you could wait for the weather or hose it down. I would also check prior to this that all the seals and "flaps" are facing the way they should be and or are not damaged.

Either that, or it is slightly out of adjustment on that side or your on unlevel ground contributing to the alignment issue. If it is truly an alignment thing I would take it to the dealer.

Sounds good. Do you notice that one side on your passport stops first while the other side has a couple more inches to go?

If the carpet was wet you most likely have leaking somewhere that you will need to get corrected or you will have much bigger issues.

Your problem may be as simple as a twig or leaves stuck between where the slide top and the wall meet! Open it up, grab a step ladder and take a peek.

Mine seems to come in evenly which leads me to believe you have more of a cable adjustment problem or an obstruction from not cleaning off the top of the slide before pulling it in. Again, if you have verify nothing gets wet when the slide is all the way out and all the way in...thats half the battle. The next step would be to look for twigs or debris in the way in front of or behind the flaps, and/or mis-adjusted cables. I would have the dealer do any sort of cable adjustment.

For you guys with Passports, how long have you had them and are you happy so far? We love ours, I just don't want to worry about any leaks.
