I'm not saying anybody should exceed their ratings. I'm saying people do. And this thing will pull anything it is rated to pull better than any V8 on the market. And this from a guy towing with a V8.
The price point is pretty reasonable for what you are getting as well. The wimpy EcoDiesel adds $4,270 to the price of a Ram. Ram Cummins is an $8,995. AISIN you have to get a 3500 and pay another $2,595. This Titan has a Cummins AND Aisin for what appears to be $5,000.
People here, including you, are complaining about payload and price. How many people here use a cummins, duramax, or powerstroke to tow RV that are 1/2t towable? This beast will take a 8,000lb travel trailer down the road with power and comfortable driving experience that only the ecoboost can match but with better MPG.
This is exciting for me, as it should be for a lot of us. Right now both Ford and GM have a mid sized turbo diesel that can compete with this 5.0 cummins. They just have never made them available to the N/A market because EPA regs drove costs up and mileage down... to the point they didn't see a big enough gap between them and the the big diesels. On the shelf they went. Even this 5.0 was offered to Ram years ago but they turned it down because at that time it didn't meet the mileage numbers they wanted.
If people are willing to pay a little extra for the increased capability over their gas 1/2t this TITAN XD could be a game changer.
