2019 Cummins in Ram: 2 significant & simultaneous milestones

It wouldn't surprise me if they drop the F650/750 line, like they dropped the L-Series, Ranger/B-series and E-Series truck lines. Their share of the medium/medium-heavy truck market was very tiny with the L-Series, as it is with the F650/750. International and Freightliner pretty much own the medium truck market. Funny thing is, Freightliner got into that market by buying the L-Series line from Ford and renaming it Sterling.

Ford's share of the mini truck market was huge with the Ranger, as was their share of the van market with the E-Series. Dropping those 2 lines was plain stupidity, much to the chagrin of GM and Toyota.

Well I had the moral high ground as my vehicle was usually the MOST AMERICAN out of any of these trucks. Check your facts there fella, I have called out some of the Ram guys for trolling in a Ford thread, just like I am calling YOU out for trolling in a Ram thread. The big difference is that its 3 or 4 "Ram Mafia" guys that rotate through and troll Fords... but its ALWAYS YOU that trolls Rams. If you all could act like adults, there wouldn't be a need to call anyone out.

The fact of the matter is that I could really not care less WHERE a vehicle is made. Ford or Toyota doesn't make a darn difference to me. Both employ Americans are competitive rates in safe environments in the factories, both pay American taxes (though Toyota pays MORE for import tariffs on some models), both pay American sales people, both employ American mechanics and both companies trade on the stock exchange and any one here can purchase stock and invest anywhere they want.

All this nonsense about American this, foreign that, new designed this, 18 year old that is just a bunch of cranky old guys that still want to measure their manhood against someone else's. For whatever reason, I don't really care to get involved in the measuring contest. I'm satisfied with what my genes gave me, I was satisfied with my 87% American Tundra and I am very satisfied with my Mexican made, Italian owned Ram.

Again... I couldn't care less what you or anyone else thinks of my purchase. My father in law drives a Chevy 2500 6.0, my good friend just bought a 2016 Ford F350 6.7. They are all amazing trucks and all handle everything we ever plan to throw at them. They buy what they want, I buy what I want. I am thankful to have so many choices and so much competition, as we all should be.

Why don't you be the big man and step away from Ram/Cummins threads for a little while? Perhaps other people will be more willing to "side with you" if you weren't such a pot stirring troll in every single Ram/Cummins thread. Much like EVERYONE knows that Ricatic will never buy another Ford, we know that you will never buy a Ram. That's fine, that's your opinion and we all know. Stop acting so petulant about it...

Maybe he means best built by Ford? Just because Ford builds it and Ford puts it in one of their Medium duty trucks does it make them Medium Duty?

My claim Cummins and Aisin are both Medium Duty is backed up by the fact they are both used in other Medium Duty applications other than RAM.

I really liked the 500. I was sad to see it go, although, the Taurus became the 500, so it really didn't go, just changed names. Still, I thought the name 500 was alot better than Taurus/Sable, which sound so dorky.

I would call the best medium duty commercial truck engines the Cummins ISB 5.9 and ISC 8.3, and the International DT466E.

I would call the best medium duty commercial truck automatic transmission the Allison 3000 series and the best manual transmission the Eaton/Fuller 6000 series.

I thought the Ford 500 sounded much better than Taurus, then along came Mr. Boeing and he changed it back to the lame Taurus.

That's true, the Ford 6.7 diesel engine has been made in Mexico since it's inception. Ford built a factory in Mexico to make the new engine at. That really disappointed me in Ford. Also, the entire Fusion car, which replaced the Taurus when they moved the Taurus name upmarket, is made in Mexico. It's a great car, but again, it disappointed me in Ford.

In 1988 I drove the first Dodge Ram 5.9 cummins that was delivered to our area for the county fair for display and exposure to the farmers and ranchers who drove nothing but diesel trucks. The one thing I do recall was when you would shut down the engine the belt squeal pretty loud which I thought was pretty cool, but I have to say todays diesel trucks are a lot more fun to drive.

The V8 Ford Bonnie and Clyde were shot in still exists. Kind of a coffin on wheels..........
