2019 F450 and tire pressure monitor

I just figured out that my shiny new F450 while set up to monitor trailer tire pressure, won't monitor its own tires. What a colossal bummer.

So wondering why a modern Ford truck is missing this vital bit if safety gear. Anyone know the reason it is not available?
  • I had a TST system on my Solera. Was super happy to see it go when it sold. Now shopping for a new one. I had the flow through sensors before. Some would flow air well, some not very well. I am just getting the button type this time. Its either that or trade my truck for an F350 lol.
  • Granted, on cars and trucks below 10k GVWR, TPMS can be a nuisance because of the way they're programmed. However, on our 1-ton Ram, it's a very welcome feature. No blinking lights, chimes, or warnings---just simply displays the air pressure in each tire. For those of us who air down our tires empty, it's good to have as a reminder to air back up for towing/hauling. No need to get out of the truck to check. Have also found the TPMS to be very accurate.
  • The TPMS isn't required for vehicles over 10,000 pound GVWR. I hate that it's required at all. It makes the vehicle more expensive. When the little sensors break they are expensive to replace. But, you have to or it won't pass inspection.
I have a tire gauge and I know how to use it. I don't need the Fed's mandating an idiot light for me.
  • Safety gear? Never heard TPMS described as that. Well, I guess it could be considered that. But honestly dont you ever check your tires? Remember the 450/4500 and above are considered more commercial vehicles, thus not requored by the feds.
