California has a requirement to have a Non Commercial Class A for 5th Wheels over 15,000 GVWR. I decided to get the license and took the written and driving tests as my 5ver is 15,700 GVWR. Travel trailers over 10,000 GVWR require the Non Commercial Class A also. The Non Commercial A test is similar to the regular Class A test with the written tests, Pre-Trip truck and trailer inspection, and a driving and skills test at a Commercial DMV test facility, and you must submit a medical questionaire every 2 years to the DMV. There are no hour restrictions like the Commercial A license has.
