- ksg5000ExplorerGoing to be plenty of new electric startups - the ones with real new technology will likely be acquired or go public - the ones without new technology will likely be rolled over. I like this vehicle but at close to $70K it's not going to find a market in the USA.

Interesting thread. What I've been reading from investment people is that Tesla is not doing well, and their stock may drop soon. And some people have wondered how long Tesla can continue without actually making money.
But... people have been saying that since Tesla started, so who knows.
The Rivian numbers are very impressive. Hopefully when it is actually for sale those numbers will still be as good. What would be really good is if they priced it below the competitors without any government aid, then just add in the discount as a bonus.
Your info may be dated. Tesla started to report profit the recent quarter.
Gudlock who shorted Tesla lost a fortunate. So talk to me, I've made money on my Tesla stocks. And it's up again 1.01% at this very moment.
Who else car or product where customers willing to wait 8 to 12 months and flunk downpayment for the "privilege" of buying their product? Or when customers update to replace their old Tesla will buy another higher end Tesla? Or, when their unit has problems, the company will send mechanics to look into it and repair it? - fj12ryderExplorer III

Paying "$10-12,000 just for diesel" in a half-ton truck? We are talking about half-ton trucks. And when I bought my diesel truck, used of course, I paid $18,500, a very long way from $69,000.fj12ryder wrote:
Pretty funny where it says "It's payload may surprise you..." and then they put two small dufflebags in the bed. LOL And the in depth discussion of it's range was pretty revealing too I thought. And "starting price" of $69,000, woof.
Electric vehicles are kind of cool, but why would I pay $20,000 more for one than I would for a generic 1/2 ton gas truck? Paying $20,000 up front kind of negates any fuel savings. $20,000 will buy one heck of a lot of gas. If the price were more in line with generic 1/2 ton trucks it might be more appealing, to me anyway.
What does the $20,000 extra include in equipment over the stripped gassers?
Heck, you're paying $10-12,000 just for diesel.
Me, I wouldn't buy a stripped down truck. I like bells and whistles.
Sorry, "bells and whistles" don't ring my chimes. HAR I'd rather use my money to travel. Diff'rent strokes... Kind of the old "substance over style" opinion I guess, and the main reason I don't like Harley's. - Super_DaveExplorer30 minute gas stops (recharge) will never be something I could tolerate. I'll be a fuel burner until there isn't any.

Quick, post some good Tesla news, or your stock might go down! ;)

Tesla is not a bit worried. The worry should be GM, Ford, RAM.
They better hurry, analysts are saying Tesla's technology is 5 to 10 years ahead of the closest competition.
But not in production floor, however, found out that Tesla had to manually assemble Model 3's to catch up with delivery commitments and production goal.
My son works there so I can't give anymore details, lol.
Reports are Tesla is looking at soon to be closed GM plants, the report also says Tesla will be able to ramp up production at these plants and might bring the cost down even more..
Game changer... :)
Wow, that's good news and definite game changer.
Specially that Tesla is now assembling their cars on garlic-like tent temporary site in their Fremont location. - timmacExplorer
