The 1-2 gap is about my only gripe about this truck, both as a daily driver and while towing. While daily driving and trying to accelerate you have to mash the pedal to the floor to get it to shift into 2nd and hold any reasonable RPMs. Otherwise, it drops to 2nd and lug, lug, lugs.
While towing the gap is really annoying. I was kicking down into first at 33MPH while pulling a steep winding grade. With 6 gears I just don't understand why there must be such a HUGE gap. The 8spd in the 1500s sure must be nice.
My truck doesn't stay in 3rd much at all when towing. It seems to spend about 75% of the time in either 2nd or 4th.
And yep.... 2nd gear at 55MPH all day long. I'll check my RPMs @ 55 in 2nd and report but I'd guess it's in the 4000-4500 range.
