Yes the jump from 1-2 is too big when accelerating. It kind of bogs down for a couple seconds once it shifts to second. Once the rpms climb a bit, it comes back to full life.
On a related note, the engine note changes once it passes 4k rpm, I suspect that's where the intake runners change length, or do their thing.
