The grades I climbed aren't posted with what % they are. However based on experience, I'm going to say they were about 7%.
To be honest, I was a little skeptical about how this truck would perform as my last gasser was a tough truck, but was left screaming at 30 mph in the far right lane, on this same grade with a smaller lighter RV (9000# 33' TT). The top of that grade is posted to be 4500' above sea level.
I have absolutely no regrets buying this truck. The powertrain performs very well. It does use lower gears to climb grades than my previous (tuned/chipped) diesel. The diesel would be in overdrive 90% of the time, and 3rd (one gear down) would climb any grade I pointed it at when at highway speed. This truck is 2-3mpg less overall, and uses one gear lower in comparison.
Still very happy with no regrets.
I have the RV hitched up and actually in tow less than 10 days per year. Sure we vacation for 2-3 weeks but we only tow 4 days of that add in a few weekend trips to make the 10. The remaining 355 days use the gasser is better for my situation and was over $10k cheaper.
Thanks. That does help. We are looking at going from OH to Disney with it, so that is a major driver in me looking at getting one sooner than later and I-77 in WV has some good grades.
