Hit a little snag with the stool install. It looked like the previous owner had used the Thetford Aquamagic as a holding area for something. I seem to remember the shower stall and toilet both occupied with some parts but can't recall, exactly what. There were a few scatches on the inside of the bowl so after giving the Thetford a good cleanup I decided to polish the stool with some rubbing compound. All of the cosmetic work turned out well and it is shining in avacado brilliance, lol.
When I depressed the foot lever to remove the last of the rinse water, the return spring broke. Upon more examination, I found a bit of rust on the moving parts and since I needed to remove the valve assembly to access the broken spring, I disassembled the guts, cleaned everything up, and lubed the moving parts. It all seems fairly good, now, but am wondering if I should just replace the spring or opt for a new stool.
Does anyone have experience with these older Thetford Aquamagic toilets? Are they prone to failure in any way?
