I guess my reference is our kitchen, the place where Her Highness, the Polish Princess is in command. I remodeled the kitchen years back, installing appliance cabinets and allowing for a lot of countertop space (three sides of the kitchen). At present, there is just enough space left for me to fill a cup of coffee or make a sandwich.:R This isn't from a lack of cabinetry, there are 42" overhead's lining the 12' x12' kitchen and a full compliment of lowers with the usual storage enhancements.
That is one massive long countertop!
I'm glad you brought up the size thing, though. I'm about to build my first cabinet and will be thinking about how I want everything to fit in the Hilton. One of my design goals is to have cabinets where there is some flow of air to the inside. That basket woven vinyl material, shown previously, is going to be incorporated into the cabinet doors.
