Keep up the good work! I am still trying to get my LUCY to stop weeping...snow needs to go away. Someday I will send pics. Now the inside looks like demo derby and roof...well we could all go fishin in those ponds!!!! YIKES!
This brings up a good point about restoration on the vintage RV's. Most of these fine old TT's aren't in the best shape and, consequently, there are usually a lot of different hurdles to get one back into a good state of usability. I know that some days I feel like both feet are stuck in the mud and I'm not getting anywhere. Some days, though, I feel like the Army,"We get more done by 9:00 AM...."
Today, I feel like I re'uped my enlistment.:W I decided to tackle the vent hood cabinet and chose to build a frame for the cabinet. This allows me to build a lighter weight cabinet and to make it pretty strong. Also, it's easier to hang with a frame and to get the vent hood positioned. For materials, I used some Cedar deck boards that were a castway from a customer's deck job. I like using Cedar inside the Hilton because it is a light wood and has some humidity and water resistance, i.e. it doesn't rot fast.
The boards straight off the stack:

Cleaning off some of the grunge with a belt sander and wire brush:

After a pass or two through the planer:

And a trip through the jointer for the edges:

The cabinet frame hung from the ceiling and the wall:

Side view of the cabinet:

I have to march over to call on a customer but when I get back, I'll install the paneling on the bottom and sides, bolt up and wire the vent hood, and start on the face frame. The cables that are inside the cabinet space are for the TV, antenna lead and audio feed to the receiver. The cable to the right of the cabinet is for a wall-hung speaker. There is also an AC box in there for the microwave. That will fit into the right side of the cabinet. The small remaining space on the left will be storage.
At ease, men.:B
