Hey trust me I know all about tar on the roof! Mine wasn't horrible, but still a mess. I used one of those vibrating multi cutting tools with a scraper blade and a heat gun and it all came up pretty easy. Scrubbed it with a scotchbrite pad and mineral spirits and a final clean with simple green and was good to go. Lots of work though. Heard nothing but good about Eternabond, that should get you sealed up good! Can't risk leaks after all the work we've done.
