That's something that will have to be investigated at the store, not that I'm married to exactly this brand. One thing that worries me is the moisture resistance of these engineered products. Most of the cheaper ones and even some of the more expensive goods have an untreated MDF core. Dupont makes a really good looking product with a textured grain surface and a pattern that doesn't repeat so often but has a mystery core. I called their flooring customer service number for info about the construction but they won't disclose what is in there.westend wrote:
What do you think of this product:Schon engineered hardwood. Probably underlay it with something like this. The ECO Silent Sound is rated at R 2.5, I don't think 1/2" rebond carpet pad is going to be much more.
Yeah, I like that. Real wood veneer and snap fit easy install. I wonder if it has a chamfered edge though? I installed some prefinished wood floor from them that a customer bought and it had a small bevel on the edge. I know a beveled edge will help hide gaps from shrinkage but I don't like it, catches dirt.
One way around the moisture issue would be to get something like this Tranquility vinyl plank. It has a 50 year warranty and is waterproof. At that point, though, a guy is back to vinyl and you have all the usual downsides with that, scratches, cheap looks, and would probably be totally covered. Tranquility also uses 25% recycled vinyl like Allure and who knows what gets into the product in an offshore recycling facility.
If I get any more confused about the flooring, I may just pour out a gallon of paint on the floor and go rug shopping, lol.
BTW, what the heck is the problem with RVnet's server? I had to copy this post, like I've done for the fourth or fifth time, log into Trailer Life and post it there. This has been going on for over a week now.
