Shalen,
I have a 2001 S&S 9.5 on my 2006 Ford F350 diesel longbed XLT with a supercab. We don't need to do anything special to fit it in the bed. Of course the tailgate is removed.
From front bumper to rear of camper, we measure 23 feet in length. That includes approximately 22 inches of overage.
Please keep in mind that our fully loaded and ready to go camper and truck combo with two adults is 12100 pounds. The manufacturer's weight sticker on the left rear of my camper says 3056 pounds. However, our wet weight is 4150 pounds. They are heavy but it suits our lifestyle at this point.
Be prepared for rot around the front windows. We rebuilt ours.
Again, I love our rig. It works for us.
Good Luck.
