A NorthStar mattress question

We have the upgrade mattress in our recently purchased 950sc, which consists of I think 8 inches of dense foam and then a thinner layer (1.5 inch) of less dense foam. The problem is the two are not adhered to each other and the top layer crawls to one side after a couple nights of sleeping on it. With the fitted sheets and all the bedding in place it's impossible to realign the two. This creates somewhat of a flap slightly overlapping the storage box on the side of the bed. My question is, are we the only ones having this issue, and if not what solutions are there to cause the two to become as one?
  • Thanks for the details. This did not sound like a typical RV mattress. As recommended I would start by contacting the dealer. It sounds like this mattress is just two pieces of foam but if you want a single piece you can contact a foam dealer or do it yourself. 3M Super 77 is the glue most often used. You should do the gluing outdoors. The technique is simple. Align the pieces, fold back the upper foam to expose half of the sheets. Then spray both sides and realign. Allow the glue to set and repeat on the lower half.

In addition to gluing, you will probably want to get a zippered mattress cover/bag and a mattress pad.
  • Our Northstar mattress has 2 layers but they are attached to each other. If you pull too hard at the corners, they will separate though.
  • No, it's the dealer provided, upgrade option (which I think is now actually standard). It is just 2 pieces of foam, but it is very comfortable and the nicest foam mattress of any type I've ever slept on. Just a little surprised it would come in 2 pieces/layers like that without being glued together in any manner. Wondering if it was an oversight.
  • In case you are still following the thread, where did this mattress come from and what is the brand? Or is it just a couple of pieces of foam that you or someone else substituted for the original mattress?
  • 3M and other manufacturers have an aerosol adhesive spray. The only problem is getting the 2 mattress's apart, and then back in the mattress cover.
  • I think the dealer might have a solution as well, but you probably can use foam rubber glue or similar.
