A TT with Office Space and Bed for 6000lbs or less

A few thoughts, 1) if you are going with the Jayco, you should know that Burlington RV in WI has the same model for $1,800 less than the link you shared; 2) I would not think about using you TV for this size of TT; 3) you may want to look at Flaggstaff 27 RLW, it might work. My 2 cents!

I'd consider a custom trailer. Some enclosed trailer makers can make an all aluminum trailer with these specifications. Not sure how light aluminum framing is, compared to stick/tin, but it might be enough weight savings to make something of usable size.

Assuming the weight would work with his tow vehicle, I'm thinking the small toy hauler that will allow his equipment would be the way to go. Having a special order unit built and deleting something like the rear bunk beds usually means they charge you more for not putting them in....doesn't make sense, but true. Cannot recall the brands, but have seen a good number of toy haulers that they use for the motorcycle, but still have a bed up front.

To save yourself some driving and phone calls, suggest you take a look online at both RVWholesalers and RVDirect. They both sell many brands and have a very large selection. There are floorplans and usually pictures of each unit. Both handle Canadian orders and have everything you need for crossing the border.

I am willing to bet there will be more than 1,000 lbs of cargo going in there. I know how much the type of gear weighs that he already said would be going in there, plus add some water for the dry trips, and propane... I am just saying that only looking at the dry weights to determine what trailer you can pull isn't really the way to do it, it's a good starting point, but many other factors.

This is what we was thinking about doing at one... I'm thinking you will need at least a F150 type truck to tow this however...

When we was looking for a trailer with hard sides back in 2010 I came up with this idea on what to do with a bunk bed area for this JAYCO X213 model... My idea was to make a OFFICE/COMPUTER/HAM RADIO room in the bunk room area which we really didn't have a need for since there is only two of us using the trailer.

The BUNK BED area is up front on this model...






The top bunk bed shown here would also be removed. As you can see a pretty large area can be made available


The idea was to remove the lower and upper beds and make a 24-inch deep storage area just inside the so-called bicycle door by installing a wall across the bunk room.

The new floor plan would look something like this shown in dark blue.


The OFFICE AREA would consist of one of these L-SHAPED DESK with hutch combos available from Office Depot. The L-side would have to be cut down to fit the depth of the room.


The L-side of the desk setup would house my two 24-inch computer monitors, docking station, and DELL M90 LAPTOP computer. Just snap the portable computer in place and all is active. The hutch area would house all of my Ham radio items. The long 12-depth cabinet that run across the front wall of the bunk room would house all of the Inverters/switches/battery functions etc. Office printer would under the desk tops. All items mounted will have VELCRO strap down installed feature to keep from boucning around when in travel mode.

I Still get a small 22-inch storage room just inside the outside doorway. The clothes ward also has a small outside door which opens up behind the clothes ward as well.

I would use a draw curtain to hide the roll around office chair when not is use.

Looked like a very workable plan for the two of us to have a good office area with full internet access using the Verizon MIFI or the Millenicom Net if more data is needed and be able to still work my Ham Radio items as well...

As it turned out we are still running the roads with the OFF-RoAD POPUP

I don't agree, the GVWR could be 10,000lbs or any number who cares if your trailer is 4,600 dry then on average you will load 1,000lbs of gear so you will end up around 5,600lbs and most likely never come close the max GVWR. Also the 260bhs is actually almost 29ft long. There are shorter bunkhouses out there. Here are a few.

One thing it sounds like you are not looking at is the GVWR of the trailer. That's the number you need to be looking at. That 26ft at 4500lbs is actually more like 7600lbs, which is pushing your towing capacity. Plus, you are putting a lot of heavy gear in there.. Just something to think about. My trailer is 7600lbs 'dry weight' which is the numbers you are looking at, but when we are loaded up to go camping, we are pushing the 10,500lbs GVWR of the trailer, usually right around 10k.

Thing is that I will need to use the bedroom to build an office space. And then I'd need a place to sleep as well (without needing to rearrange the main area in the morning and at night to convert it to a suitable sleeping area).

That why the S-260bhs seemed to be working. There are bunks + bedroom with most part of floor accessible (often there is storage area under so can't make office in that space).

It's a 26 footer. 4600lbs. You really think it would be too much?
