Adventurer vs EC

Been in one last fall nice unit, I would think you would want on a dually to set it on. Not as nice as a EC but $10,000 xcheaper and lighter than EC1160.

Our previous Adventurer was great, never had a problem in 10 yrs. The new Eagle Cap has been good so far...only had it since 9/2013...hopefully will hold up as well as the Adv.
I would agree that Adv has stepped up their game as well...I would not hesitate to buy another.
Pick the floorplan that works for you...I don't think you could go wrong with either.

You can get the U dinette in any EC.

The theater seating is awesome...I did not think it was something that would interest me...untill I saw it in person. Very comfy.

The Adventurer 116DS will be our next TC. We have the 910FBS and really love it, but we would love the comfort of the sofa. My 910 has more counter space than any camper we've seen to date.

We are pleased with the finishes of our TC and find it comparable to AF or Lance. I think that you get a lot for your $$. Adventurer utilizes every bit of space for more storage.

You might look at the 910FBS. It really feels larger inside and is not as heavy as the 116. Ours weighs out at 4300# wet. We have a DRW and use no airbags. We have no issues except a small amount of sway if it's windy. We may get stable loads at some point.

Make sure you get HJ dually bracket extensions. Our dealer didn't put the right ones on and we only have 1/2" clearance. An issue that will soon be rectified.

I agree with you the Adventurer 116DS looks like a neat setup and I would like to see one in person. Maybe later this year or early next year we maybe going to a slide out model with a sofa/theater seating for some place comfortable to sit down and relax and not have to sit at the dinette all the time when the weather is nasty.

Even though I had that size of GVWR I only had a 3500# payload on it. It is just my wife and I and we pack light when we travel with it.

Suggest you take one of the pickups that you are looking at and take it to the scales before buying it and weigh it. You just can not believe what you read on how much payload capacity they have.

My Ram DRW is dedicated to the TC hauler as we also have 3 vehicles plus I have my Harley tike I can use also. The Ram sits in the garage most all of the time unless the camper is loaded on it.

I'm sorry the trailer will be pulled by the other vehicle, and I plan on weighing the truck before purchase, I'm trying not to be overweight and I'm aware of a lot real world weights guys are getting on the scale, I've read ad nausea a lot of the threads on this board, and I may look at a lighter camper I'm open at this point just was very intrigued by the 116 floor plan.

Now are you going to put any batteries in it. Add over a 100# for 2 batteries. Plan on carrying any water in it add this weight. What about food and personal items?

The dry weight alone is over every SRW 1 ton that I know of on the market today. This is more than the 1191. That is a lot of weight to be putting on a SRW. By the time you are wet and loaded you are going to be pushing almost 5000# if not more. This means you have to upgrade the at the least the rear tires. If you are going to do upgrades to the SRW the money might be better spent to get a dually. It would probably come out cheaper than upgrading all the items on a SRW to attempt to carry one of these units on a SRW. This is way out of a SRW weight range. I know I wouldn't consider doing it.

This is IMO.

The new ram payload is in the mid 4's and a lot of gear will be going in a trailer/ 2nd vehicle. And I'm not locked into srw just kicking it around. I'd prefer regular cab drw if I end up able to dedicate the truck to TC duty only (it will be a third vehicle for us) I may do just that. But good info...
