Isn't it a given that insurance will deny claims should said overweight srw be in an accident? It always seems to be beyond my risk threshold to run overweight. I sold a nice low mile F350 srw since it couldn't carry anything with a slide legally. I got a small class C that was legal and used it for 4 years. Now I am back to looking at truck campers and this thread seems to scream DRW.
A 'given' as in should? because that isn't what happens. I dare to say one would be hard pressed to find an instance where troopers/officers weighed and ticketed an RV'er after an accident, save for fatal accidents or similar. It just doesn't happen, and I suspect the insurance industry is set up more on averages and that the numbers of overweight RV'er that causes an accident because of the overweight probably doesn't register on the screen.
Just surmising here... this subject of insurance and overweight has been beat to death, but there is a reason out there that it isn't a reality (denials). Anyone IN the industry that can offer more insight?
