Thanks for the input guys. Got prices from 2 more independent shops today with the best being $393.76 out the door to replace just the drivers side with OEM and going that route.
As far as what caused it? From reading and talking to the different mechanics and a service advisor it’s a common problem on this year and the truck is clean with only 64k miles, so it’s sounding like it’s defective original parts. I did find a factory service advisory on the rough in gear idle and the solution was to somehow shim the motor mounts. It’s being done tomorrow and will follow up if this fixes the rough idle.
To test if your mounts are bad, have someone put the e-brake on and hit the brakes and gas at the same time in drive while you watch the motor. Apparently this problem is specific to the driver side mount and you can definitely see the motor jump on mine.
