This was the thinking that helped lead GM into bankruptcy.
We are losing money on these vehicles we are selling so we will make up for it in volume, was the thinking.
Regardless of who has/makes/sells the "BEST" truck, almost every financial analysts would agree that Ford makes the most profit per truck.
In the real towing size trucks they make their own diesel engines and transmissions instead of sending a cheque away to Cummins or Allison or whoever else. By concentrating on one model (and will be even more so when Superduty starts using the aluminum cabs) they can lower their costs per unit.
So if they really wanted to sell on just "price" I bet they could undercut everyone and still make a bit per truck?
So what really defines the "best" truck, the highest sales numbers, or the one that many folks willingly pay more for than the others?
Something else to think about and stir this up a bit more eh?
