Never owned one but based on actual owners responding here it would appear to be reasonably reliable but not great on fuel mileage. There will always be an entire chorus of Ford haters on this forum who have nothing but doom and gloom stories on why you shouldn't ever buy a Ford.
I agree there are Ford haters. However I am not one. I have had Ford's up to my current truck. I have Ford work vans.
Nevertheless Ford has had real issues with their PSD engines after the 7.3. To recommend a 6.0 or 6.4 engine to someone without making them aware of the issues would be misleading. I have nothing to gain or loose but I prefer to give an honest opinion.
One does not have to own the truck first hand to become aware of problems. Every vehicle will develop a history and reputation on its own.
I prefer the interior, chassis, and overall Ford truck better however their 2003-2011? Diesel engines have had issues and have developed a questionable reputation.
The only reason I have a Chevy now is due to the issues with Ford diesels of my era.
Currently Ford is shooting itself in the foot again by denying warranty claims on the 6.7 engine.
Maybe some do not want to hear any discouraging remarks about Ford.
I am not so brand loyal that I choose to cover up or deny real issues.
Hopefully someone may avoid making a big mistake by being informed.
I imagine the OP wanted all the info he could get both good and bad in order to make an informed decision.
well said...likely I am the "Ford Hater" that the Gypsy referenced...but as usual...he is so blinded by the Blue Koolaid, he does not see the tenor or the truths that I wrote...nothing hateful in my post...just the truth...and I have owned a few Fords...and they all disappointed me...
To the OP: Be very careful of the 2011 Ford 6.7...first year production had some issues...and the HPFP warranty denials are real, troubling and expensive to fix...the Blue Koolaid Kings will be here soon to tell you how much power they have...and how comfortable they are...and they are right...but Ford's warranty denial reputation on this engine is real..and deserved...GM fixes theirs and Ram uses a better HPFP, a proven design...Just the facts...no hate...good luck in your search...
oh..and I have the credentials needed according to the Gypsy...I owned a 6.7 POS...and a 6.0 POS...some of us learn at a bit slower rate...
