I have the Andersen rail-version hitch. The trouble I have with it is this: I have a long bed, so the socket of the adapter was placed towards the rear of the hitch pin. I am by myself now so to align the ball with the socket (front to back) I have to get in and out of the truck multiple times, as-in pull forward, or back slightly, etc. to align the ball and socket. n
I've never used one (Anderson) for this reason, well that and chains needed for ball mounts in some states. Nothing like the ease of a fifth wheel hitch IMO.
Having said that many Anderson hitch owners are happy campers.
Guess I'm to old school.
Don't matter much any more to me though!
I agree with you to an extent 45. I should have someone 95% of the time to spot for me though. But the ease of installing/removing the hitch, no chucking, etc is very appealing. But there also is no disputing the ease of hitching to the standard 5th hitch either. That's why I haven't ruled out the B&W 16k Patriot either. The adjustability and lighter weight (compared to the slider I have now) is also very appealing.
Decisions, decisions!!!
