Warm (soon anyway) sunny day and thought I would install the Andersen Ultimate rail mount and pin adapter. I have a new MorRyde pin box with about 3000 on it so most of the pin paint is still on it. When I went to install the adapter, it comes to a stop about 1/4 to 1/2" above the pin notch and I can see paint being scraped off. It still has about 3" to go up the pin, but it jams so tight that it is hard to remove without both hands and twisting. I've cleaned the pin and adapter and used WD40 and still not getting very far. Since the adapter was in the truck and it dropped to the 20s last night, I wondered about contraction, so I now have the adapter sitting in front of a space heater to warm it. Anyone else have similar problems? I could sand the paint off the hitch, but that is a lot of work and exposes it to rust.
Also, where do folks usually fasten the locking lever? I hate to drill into the MorRyde, but the nose cone of the fiver doesn't seem very sturdy.
EDIT: Booya! Heating the adapter did the trick and it slipped right on.
