It would appear that Anderson didn't feel that updating the installation instructions was enough to keep the issue from occurring. So they have replaced a few hitches with the new design, and redesigned the hitch. By redesigned I mean strengthened.
I'm the one who received the response from Andersen, and what you say is not an accurate representation of what they said. The words they used are "a few hitches replaced" as a result of a few people who had panic stops "during very heavy towing". In our little world, we know of one single hitch that was damaged, but we also know that it wasn't installed based upon the revised instructions. As far as we know, any of their hitches that have been damaged and replaced may have also been improperly installed. You've said on multiple threads (more than I can count it seems), that your "comments were proven right" and that the Andersen UH was a flawed design, but a few cases over the course of 18,000 units doesn't prove much.
Threads like this would not get shutdown if folks would stick to the topic and avoid their insertion of repetitive misinformation in order to twist the story line to fit their narrative.
