Switched to a diesel in 2004 and would never consider a gas engine for towing over 6,000 lbs again.
I traded a 2005 when GM came out with the 2011's with a 11,600 GVWR - wow what a difference.

Let her drive towing your rig with a gass'er and then a diesel and she will go for the diesel.
