Get what you want and can afford. Believe me I'm a diesel head through and through and own two of them and won't have another HD gas truck but technically the 6.0 has the "extra power if needed" also you just have to gear down to get there.
The biggest difference you will see in the two towing is the deseil is more of a laid back loaf along experience and the gas will be more of a gotta go gotta go feel. The hill braking will also feel more controlled with the D-max.
