I can only give you my Ford experiences. I've had two of the infamous 6.0's with a famous v10 6.8L in between. Went with the gasser when a buddy (who had never towed with a diesel) raved about his v10. What a fool I was! After the first diesel, I hated every minute of using the gasser; towing and empty. Swear I could literally see the gas needle moving down. Every trip we took seemed to cost a small fortune. Got back into a diesel first chance I had. You'll never convince me that gasser was cheaper to operate.
