I still have my 95/5 speed and it handles my 5 fiver just fine. 22 mpg solo 13 pulling, simple is the best way to go, NO electronic gadgets to go wrong. Belong to the TDR and read about the problems of the new ones, quite they are but, they are plagued. Don't get me wrong they are nice, but some owners are coming back to the old 12 valve, IF they can find one.
Never owned a 12valve...Never owned a Dodge/Ram truck until 2010, I was a Chevy guy up till that tiime...the 13' in my sig my 3rd...LOVE the new trucks. Mine isn't plagued...zero issues with it with 15,000 miles on it...quite and rides great for what it is and could tow a mountain.....I did think the older Dodges were rather loud, but other than that, seemed like the Cummins was the most enduring of the diesels in the big three....it's been around the longest of the Big Threes diesel engines.
