I appreciate all of your responses. After the experience we had with our Coachmen TT and helping fix a few other TTs, I'm of the belief that more of them leak than we care to admit. My Coachmen, for example, showed absolutely no signs on the walls or ceiling that it had leaks. I pulled the carpet up to examine and fix one area of the floor that I knew was soft and found 3 other places that were rotted through. This camper was only 4 years old when this happened. Another one I helped fix was a Jayco with a super slide. This one, however, the owner knew that the slide seals were getting a bit worn, but still showed no signs of leakage but had a rotten floor under the slide. This TT was about 8 years old. When I sold our last TT and was looking for a pop up, 3 of the 4 that I looked at had rotten spots in the floors. The years varied on these but none more than 8 years old. I've been searching Craigslist now for a hybrid or another TT and I see a LOT in there that advertise "new laminate flooring" or "new carpet!" I know what that means! It means it had rotten wood under the linolium! While camping this weekend, I talked to a hybrid owner about his and how he liked it. He said if I would have asked last year he would have said "Great!" But this year they found a soft spot under the front bunk in floor. He was not happy. For all of you that said you've had no problems, I really hope that's true and there's nothing hidden and I hope I can find one before too long with no problems and have it stay that way.
This is so true, my first TT was a 1999 Aerolite, had NO leak issues from the roof, walls, plumbing fixtures, etc but the floor was poorly constructed and insulated, after the first 4 yrs of owning the trailer noticed soft floor spots, short story... ended having to replace the whole front 1/3 of the trailer floor. What I found was the moisture/condensation was wicking up from underneath the floor to the top of the floor which caused the rot.
