Anyone regret downsizing to a camper?

I am practically salivating at the prospect of retiring to a TC and traveling.

I had 3 different truck campers, then a 27 foot 5th wheel, and now back to a truck camper. I am really glad to be back in a truck camper.

We went from a 30 foot TT to a 11.5 foot TC when our family downsized from 6 kids to 2. ( four grew up and moved out ) I can't lie, it was a huge change. I love my TC for the ease of getting around, boondocking and being able to stay in small sites, including tent sites. What I don't like is trying to squeeze past my husband when we're both in there cooking. Although we have a snap n nap in the back that sleep an additional 2 people (6 total with the dinette) the 2 kids choose to stay outdoors in a tent. Just not a lot of room for 4 people.

They don't count your RV as RV? At Yellowstone, it is an RV. ;)

If you have pets, you might check-in into "RV park" that offers gravel pad and picnicking table. End of amenities. (for $$$ as well)
With our camper we just drove, although we skip final loop that is very rough. This way the steepest grade was 18%. Not a problem for new dually.

We downsized from a 40' Monaco Dynasty Class A motor home to a Lance 1172 last year. Best decision we've made in a long time. Now we can camp anywhere we please and it saves over a third on Diesel cost.

We bought the Outfitter Apex8 while we still had the 27' class c. Now the "c" has been replaced with a 23' 5th wheel, but the TC remains. Different rigs for different traveling destinations and purposes.

Why choose. Have both all the time. I have always had a TC at the same time as a 34, 40, and 45 ft class A
MH. They get used for diff things. Even the 45 ft DP flat towing a car was never an issue. We boon docked in it all the time. A large class A has way less need for hook ups than any TC. Lets see, 8 six volt house batts, 2 chassis batts, 3k pure sine wave inverter, 10k quiet diesel get set. 125 gal of fresh water, 80 gal gray, 55 black. In motion sat TV, etc. I love both types. I can do the same thing in our TC also. Just shorter showers.....You don't need 4x4 to go on a dirt or gravel road. Regardless of what you drive 95% is on pavement, 4% is dirt and 1% is rough/bad. Even in Africa, let alone here in the US. I think any RV will let you get out and have fun. That is what it really is all about for me..........

The difference in overall length is EXACTLY one foot. Presently, the rear leaf springs are worn and I guesstimate the rear end is sagging 1-/2 to 2 inches lower than it should. I am getting this fixed.

Short Class C's are hard to come by. They seem to sell here in Seattle just a few days after they come on the market.
