Being retired, I'm not into a payment book fatter than a phone book, I don't want to add fertilizer to a tank for 'emissions' stuff and new truck prices are insane anyway. I'll keep my no payment for 15 years, 7.3 that is actually appreciating in value as more people come to the realization that the new emissions engines are basically money pits.
I can do a lot of upgrades and maintenenace for the cost of a monthly payment.
...and I do.
New trucks are money pits? How much money have you spent on your new diesel in comparison to your old one?
I have owned new diesel trucks for the last three decades and my 2014 with close to 100k miles on it has not cost me anymore than any other diesel truck I have owned accounting for inflation. And believe me, I keep meticulous records on everything due to tax's. So I would love to see your records on your new truck showing this.
In my opinion, I think many statement about new trucks are from those that can't afford them or are not willing to spend that much money on one so they get "sour grapes" syndrome on what they can't have. I can't afford a new $1M Prevost RV, but you won't see me saying anything bad about them. I am not willing to spend all my retirement on one, but I am not ashamed to say it is a lot better then what I have and I would love to own one.
Bingo! You just summed up my exact opinion.
x3. As much as I loved my 1996 F-250 7.3L, I'm not so sure I would want to go back to it after having my current truck. My ears are still ringing from the engine noise while towing! :B
