While this is true the Truetrac acts very differently than a clutch type limited slip. The gear driven mechanism is the only differential that both differentiates and transfers torque at the same time. The more it slips the more torque is transferred and you will not be just spinning one wheel unless it is completely off the ground.

By your statement I assume you have never experienced Truetrac. These are excellent in the conditions described by the OP.
