^This is about as silly of an assertion as saying a HD 1/2 ton is as capable as a 3/4 ton because the payload rating is the same or similar.
Yes some numbers are arbitrary when talking vehicle ratings and some aren't. All have some sort of factor of safety on them.
Trouble is, alot of people who profess to know what they're talking about wouldn't know a ring gear from piston ring.
Lbs of braking performance as it relates to axle capacity....not actually a thing.
