Archoil Friction Modifier for Power Stroke Diesels
Not sure where to stick this (so if it needs moved, I'm ok with that..
Anyone with a Ford PSD using the Archoil Friction Modifier in their oil and does it work as claimed? It's not cheap, 16 ounces is about 35 bucks and needs to be added with every oil change (5000 miles) I just changed my oil and filter and added a 16 ounce bottle of the stuff.
Not a big fan of additives but after reading a bunch about it, thought I'd give it a try. My 7.3 cold smokes a bit and idles rough until warmed up. According to Archoil, that is injector misfire cause by sticking spool valves in the HEUI injectors, something that their additive is claimed to eliminate. Engine is basically stock with no emissions controls and a Banks quick spool turbo and 5" straight exhaust. No chip and don't want one.
Is it phooey or fact? I'm curious.
