Arctic Fox 1150

Looking for opinion on this and if you think I could use my stock truck.

2004 Arctic Fox with A/C generator and solar. My truck is a stock 2015 Silverado duramax 3500 dually. My hopes are not have to do my after market to truck do to budget.
Thanks
Dennis

  • Do some research on That year Arctic Fox...I believe anything pre 2005 was prone to leakage around the marker lights. Check the nose for delam. I think you would be OK to use that camper on a 2015 at least to start with... depends on where and what your use is too. I'll defer to advice from the dually crowd on that. Sounds like a great setup there.

I believe 2004 was before they went to the aluminum "super structure" frame Not sure if the wood frame makes a big difference in weight but the 2006 we had was one heavy beast on our 2004 ram but good with stock 2017 ram with factory air suspension. I believe all three manufacturers now have higher GVWR (14,000 lbs)than our 04 did which needed some help with air bags. I believe you will want to add some suspension upgrades to help with the weight.

You see anything wrong with it?
At least I added something to the thread.
Posting something with no relation to topic is called trolling. ;)

You will need ties and tiedowns and those are not cheap.
You will have to do some comparison once you get the combo set.
When I was buying 2017 F350 dually, I ask similar question and everybody was telling me about adding to suspension.
Turn out new truck has lighter bed, than older models and maybe beefed up suspension, maybe not, but it carries 6500lb camper just fine, although having 200LB of waste in rear tanks made big difference in propositioning.
Not too familiar with Chevy, but in worse case scenario you will have to add air bags.
I added hockey pucks to my upper overloads just in case and call it a day.

So...... you admit that your “not too familiar with Chevy” and you don’t own an Arctic Fox 1150 but you’re telling him that he needs air bags! Why did you reply to the OP’s thread?
