- KHaywardExplorerThere is a company in Texas that custom builds campers called Capri Campers
- AceiExplorerThanks for the info!
- BedlamModeratorThere will be a big truck camper rally in Minnesota this July. You would most likely see a good variation of trucks and campers plus get feedback from their owners.
https://midwesttruckcampers.wordpress.com/2016-mwtc-rally/ - AceiExplorerI'm still 2 years away so don't hold your breath yet... :)
I'm collecting info, and looking at various scenarios. My DW and I looked at various light TCs on the web and see if we could live in it for couple of days at a time. I'm also looking at the floor plan I designed for the TT and see what I can do to make it lighter (less length and lessen number of slides etc). I have a separate sheet that calculates payload for the truck - I want to make sure there's still some spare capacity. Everything I can think of, it's on it.
We are thinking about visiting the Hershey RV show this autumn and see more TCs in person. We have a Toronto RV show next week which we will go but the selection there is much smaller.
Honest opinions is what I was seeking so I won't be taking those the wrong way. :) But one thing I did realize here is that everyone has different ideas on what their ideal camping environment/activities means. Budget is different too. What may be liked by one might be hated by others. We have our own ideas on what we like to do, and I'm here to find out what is the best equipment for it. - Grit_dogNavigatorSo when is this excursion starting Acei?
Getting excited to see what you decide on as a lot of people, myself included "plan" for the day we can get out of the day to day and Doo some heavy duty traveling and camping.
Again don't take my previous comments the wrong way. I'd regret not being honest with my opinion and giving you something to consider. Easier for strangers to do that and can be helpful IMO. - AceiExplorerI'll show this post to my DW and talk further about it.. Thanks guys! :)

In the standard black tank setup the toilet is STILL sitting directly on top of the holding tank (flush toilet and look through hole and you will be looking directly into the holding tank), it's just a much bigger tank and needs to be dumped through a hose.
As soon as she saw the video where you have to take out the bottom container and "pour" the stuff out manually, she said NO. lol. Also, she is imagining sitting directly on top of a container that holds all that waste. Its probably no where near that bad...
But I'm open minded here. Is it really better? I would have thought since I have to dump grey water as well, it's not really all that much trouble dumping black water first through the same tube...
Also, where can you dump other than the RV dump stations? Can you carry them into conventional toilet and dump there?
I have dumped my cassette into a porta-potti, a pit toilet, a regular toilet, into an RV dump and down the plumbing clean-out at my house. Push-come-to-shove, since I don't use chemicals (other then poo eating enzymes) I could dig a hole and dump it into that, if far enough out in the boonies. It would be no different then a bear-pooping-in-the-woods and the trees would enjoy the fertilizer boost(DO NOT do this if you use the blue stuff in tank). The gray water usually goes into a bucket and then into the fire pit to extinguish last nights fire before we move on.

That 1/2t truck as a toad is an interesting possibility.
- Grit_dogNavigatorOk, pursuant to my last post in your other thread, maybe I'm missing how many nights you'll be in the TC vs the TT, but you are clearly trying to scab together a "custom" setup, but you're not a "custom" guy IMO. Your lack of, don't take this the wrong way, mechanical aptitude and discerning tastes/requirements don't lead to something with a lot of variables and unusual/uncommon/more potential for issues setup.
Retract all this, get a nice used class A pusher, and if you want a boonie rig and don't want to tent camp even though you like to tent camp, get a Tacoma or half ton truck with a nice little slide in camper and make it your toad.
Then you can get the Big Mac daddy setup, diesel genset, lots of fuel and electrical capacity, 4 seasons amenities plus the convienence that big As come with like washer dryer, big screen, big tables/chairs/work station/couch etc.
Far simpler and more meets your needs than what you're trying to create IMO.
