Right off the bat, the Care free of AZ awning traveler model is no good. Works great when sun is directly overhead. But doesn't come down far enough like our old manual did. Looks great when dealer pushes a button and it un-folds. And he pulls down the "auto-dump" feature for rain water. But in real life not so good, except at noon.
Ours has adjustable pitch, easy to setup straight out or angled down so far the door hits it when opening. Can even have it uneven to drain water off like we did with the manual one we had on our previous trailer. - Ron_NielsonExplorerDexter Axle Acquires the North American Assets of AL-KO Axis, Inc.

Been there, done that, with my cargo trailer: Brakes ruined from grease getting blown past the rear seal- path1Explorer

Looks like they are using Dexter Axles again. I saw a Dexter owner's manual in with the stack of manuals in a new rig tonight.
The Al-KO place used to be right next door to them in LaGrande OR. Dexter bought Al-KO. Here's something bad about them, well actually,to be aware of taking delivery of any RV.
Several new owners have had their axles pumped way to full of grease. Grease seals failed and brake shoes got full of grease. I feel it's the delivery guys. They want to make sure they don't have any bearing problems, so they get around the corner and break out their grease gun and pump way to much grease in. But that is an easy thing to catch in PDI. And it could happen to any manufacture.
We got one because they have a good name and even if dealer jerks you around, In our research found out that Northwoods stands behind them.
This really surprised me. We bought used, and didn't get any warranty of any kind. We had a problem with table cushions not staying in place. We looked at several TT the same year and model. Turns out they never put on some little snaps on that are needed and needed be color coordinated. I looked on-line everywhere finally called and forwarded them a couple pic's. Northwoods sent parts, no hassle even though they could of said me to get lost.
Our trailer was a good find,(wife found it). Original owner didn't do anything with it except use a spare bedroom couple times. We had to start getting the minor bugs out of it just like a new owner would. Fixing all the minor nit-noide stuff.
I hope we never need another one, if we ever buy again it will be a Northwood product.
PM me and I'll give list of all dinky stuff we did. Also if you order new, PM me there's some upgrades that are worth the money.

- bailer6334ExplorerI have owned 2 different size Arctic Fox 5th wheels. Also been to the factory in LaGrande, OR several times. In the 6 years I owned them never any problems, not even during the PDI's which took 4 hours each.
The only thing I would say is they are heavier than most of their competition. They are rated very high in all reviews. - LynnmorExplorer

Why I like Al-Ko is you don't have to elevate the tire and spin it when you are lubbing the hub, while you do with the Drexter.
They are the same thing, just a grease fitting and a hole. I don't use the stupid grease fittings anyway. By the way, I replaced my bent Al-Ko axles with Dexter, the parts are interchangeable. - mtofell1ExplorerFrom what I've heard/read on here for years the Arctic Fox trailers are quite nice and they are at the top of my list when I'm shopping.
btw.... just so you find what you're looking for in searching it's "Arctic" not "Artic" - funny though it's a common mis-spelling so you might want to search for both. You'll generally find more with the correct spelling but will still find plenty the other way. - SteamguyExplorerWe had an Arctic Fox for 14 years, kept the maintenance up, and never had a problem with it. Took it down some rough roads, never found anything broken or out of place. Traded it for a Snow River last year (also built by Northwood) and like this trailer just as much - we figure we'll hold onto it for about the same length of time.
Yes they're heavier, but they're well-built. stufarmer wrote:
Two models use the name Arctic Fox.
Entry, Arctic Fox
Premium, Arctic Fox Silver Fox.
Originally, the "Silver Fox" naming was used to distinguish their models that had aluminum framing, when they were first building some with Aluminum wall framing.
I see they now have two names: Arctic Fox Classic and Arctic Silver Fox Edition. Looks like they all have aluminum wall framing.
I'm on my Second Northwood RV. First was a Desert Fox 21SW I bought new in 2003. No problems at all during the 7 seasons I used it. I downsized to an Arctic Fox 811 truck camper in 2009. I still have it. I haven't had any issues with it either.
One thing I noticed when I toured the factory, the assembly folk were not working in a rushed or hurried pace like I've witnessed when I've happened across Youtube videos of other RV factories.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Northwood RV.
I want a second RV, either a Nash 17k or a 22H
