Awning LED Strip install

GENTLY pull back the connection sleeve from the wire to the strip. You'll see the connection point. See if they are all connected

Thanks! I will double check all of the connections. I have a feeling the are all good because I can get the three different colors depending on how I make the connection. At this point I am at a loss, so I will try everything.

The remote and reciever is IR (Infrared)and requires line of site. On the reciver there should be a small wire with a black tip on it. This would need to be outside the porch light housing. You would then point the remote directly at it. there are some pretty good WiFi and RF solutions for these as well that do not require line of site.

Nice install and like the colors, but this kit only has 8' of LEDs...how long is your awning?

The lights that I have had success with are the Sylvania Mosaic brand. They seem to be of good quality and are American made.

I was looking into this on my trailer as well. Its a brand new Keystone so there's no way I am going to be putting any holes in the exterior. I like the idea of going to the porch light. The only problem is that you would have to have the porch light on all the time while the LEDs are on.

For the people that went into the fridge. How did you access the back of the fridge? Is there a panel? I am assuming you didn't completely rip the fridge out to do this work.

What a bummer that is! I'm sure your right that not all brands are created equal. I to had mine rolled up in my awning, but they lasted the entire summer, it was not until fall when i rolled my awning up while it was wet that I had problems where some LED stoped working properly. I'll take the blame for that one. One suggestion... When shopping there are several levels of Waterproof LED strips, IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP68. The higher the number the better the waterproof sealing. IP68 is designed for long term immersion, where IP67 is short term immersion. Here is a link that explains is pretty good detail: http://www.l-com.com/customer-service?ID=4896 So I would suggest that if you doing lights in an awning, go with the highest number you can find, if you are doing on the side of the trailer a lower that 68 number should be fine I would think.

Preparation, not application is the key. My work over the years involved the restoration of concrete and masonry. I always told my clients that the preparation was 80% of the process. Clean the application area thoroughly of all oil and wax. Then wipe with viniegar and allow to dry. Mine are on solid and have endured rain and winter temps.
