Got home earlier enough to take a second look at it.
I was able to take the bolt holding it to the arm off. That arm is under some tension! Was able to flip it over then and pull all the screws out. Tested the wires at the motor and I had voltage there. Pulled the motor off and it was soaked inside. Could barely get the housing off. Cleaned it up the best I could and it actually works. I'll order up a new one, but the motor being jammed with crud was the problem.
Put it all back together and the awning opens and closes like it should.
