Awning questions

Looking to replace my awning, but I do not know anything about them. How do I determine good quality. I see some that say, they are weld, double stitch, 14 once, 15 once, etc. Can anyone give me any advice. My Awning is a 16 for sunchaser. Thx
  • I bought ours here

    http://www.rvawningsmart.com/

I had a positive buying experience and like the awning. The only thing I have noticed is the material may be a little softer then the original Dometic. However the old Dometic I took off was 10 years old and may have been stiffer from being more brittle. I do not recall the softness of it when it was new so really cannot compare new to new.

Make sure the thickness of you replacement awning is at thick or thicker then your original. Some replacement awnings have been only 1 ply/sided which is 1/2 the thickness of many originals.

    That's it.
  • On our previous camper, I waited until Glamping World had a sale. I ordered a replacement from Dometic and had them install it. I don't remember the exact price for the fabric, but it was competitive with other online prices for the same quality. They installed it for $49.

  • I got my replacement from www.dyersonline.com Was the same quality if not better than my original (on my '08 Keystone) for a fair price
  • toughtopsx2 their material is very good stuff and it's cheaper than OEM
  • First make sure which material build will actually be a replacement fit for what you have. I found that I was limited in choices of material based solely on the brand I had and what would work.

I believe I ultimately just went with the most direct replacement as the original awning material lasted about 8 years.
