Who ever said the axles are SUPPOSED to flatten out are plain wrong. If you have one tire wearing bad then that spindle or axle is bent. Call around to some truck shops and you will hopefully find one that can align trailer axles. They do this by actually bending the axle back where it belongs. There's no need to replace axle if that's all it needs.
