Max you should need is a front axle. Considering the "within 1/4 inch" is all for the diagnosis I think they are just using a tape measure.
If they were sharp with expert tools you would have camber, toe, and thrust angle measurements within a tenth of an inch or better.
While I struggled and never found a good shop before doing my own work.... I did hear once that Mike Thompson in Fountain Valley has a state of the art alignment rack. Might be just for motorhomes so call first. MT is not a low cost shop. I have had work done there that was good. And a few things like an intermittent water leak that I had to find myself in the end. Worth a phone call and see if they are equipped and want the work.
