Back up lights and back up alarm

Backing up more safely would be helped if I could see and behind. 2010 artic fox 990 and 2011 chevy 3500 SRW. The reflection form the lights in on the rear of the truck in the wing area make it hard to see while backing up. Was thinking of pulling bulbs or a switch to turn off. Any one done either of those? How about upgrading the bulbs in the back of the camper or adding an additional light, anyone done either of those? And finally has anyone added a back up alarm so that those behind realize I am backing up?
Thanks

I added backup lights to camper that are tied to camper taillight backup 'indicators' lights (all there good for). Simple tractor sealed beams hung from bumper.

I'm looking to do the same, in an LED version (low current draw, so no chance of overloading the factory truck wiring. I had some on my previous truck and they worked great.

Here's a round or square version. According to posts I read on the Northwood / AF forum, they deal with Optronics now. Optronics has some smaller LED work lights I am going to see if www.ledtrailerlights.com can get for me.
  • I also painted back side of rear wings flat black to eliminate the glare. I did add a switch on cab third brake light but dont think that would be a good idea on tailights-unless you had an absoluete fail safe way to remember turning back on when camper off. Suppose a clever fella could fab something that loading camper auto disconnected truck tailights, pressure switch in bed, switch on 7 pin plug lid, plunger switch.
In any case on newer truck, turning off tailights might need to turn on dummy load? But black paint was sufficant for me.

I assume this is at night? I added backup lights to camper that are tied to camper taillight backup 'indicators' lights (all there good for). Simple tractor sealed beams hung from bumper.
  • To eliminate the reflection, I painted the wing semi-flat black which seems to have stopped the issue. I used spray and taped everything off. I use the mirrors and since my camper is 9.5, I haven't had an issue backing up that I needed a camera, yet.
