Bal/Norco frame weight distribution question

please don't blast me but I have read for hours and still unclear on my setup. I am purchasing a new Lance 2285 and I currently use a conventional weight distribution on my old trailer. Consists of 1000lbs round bars with chains and 10,000 hitch head. The brackets fit over the trailer frame and then are are just tightened down with a set bolt . This has worked perfect for years so don't want to change if not necessary. Will this setup and brackets work with Bal / Norco frame? Also I currently use a friction type anti sway and can that bracket be bolted on the Bal/ Norco Frame. If this does not work I will invest in the E2 setup I suppose. Forgive me if this has been discussed a 100 times already .

Ask your question in nthe Lance Owner forum , you will get proper answer. I have a Lance and you need special attachment for the Bal Norco frame . Mine be an Equalizerm my desler install the proper one . I have the small 1575 and I do have 1000 lbs bar

  • Is it a full frame in the front or a C channel? My aerolite has a C Channel but has a plate added to the inside which is spot wielded occasionally. The set screw on the snap up bracket pushes on the plate which I think is pushing that panel in. I'm looking at possibly adding a screw to the outside to the snap bracket as noted in the instructions for my hitch.
  • Equal-i-zer makes a some special inside link plates that work with the Bal/Norco frames, see >>> Here<<<
  • Last year I was looking into the BAL frames and I seem to recall reading on the Lance forum that if you use a WDH with too heavy spring bars, it can damage the frame. IIRC, but I could be wrong, I think heavy spring bars may exert too much torque onto the frame and the huck bolts can be loosened or affected? Again IIRC, it's when bars are over 1000 lbs that there may be a concern.

I'd call Bal/Norco. I actually called them last year with another question on their frame and found them very helpful.

I guess you could also try the Lance forum and see what you can find.
  • This depiction of the 2285 shows a full channel frame back underneath the trailer for a few feet until any holes are present. There shouldn't be any problem with the frame and the WDH. You may wish to change out bars to a lighter one if the tongue weight is a lot lower than 1000 lbs.
