Using springbars with chains on BAL/NORCO frame

Is anyone using springbars with chains on the BAL/NORCO frame rather than the E2 hitch recommended by Lance. I am tired of constantly having to readjust the link plates that are provided with the E2 hitch from shifting on the frame.

I have an eaz-lift hitch in my shop with the 750lb spring bars w/chains and would like to use them on my Lance trailer.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • Complete the removal of the e2 hitch and installed my eaz-lift with the equalizer bars with chains, easy swap the only labor intensive piece was shortening the bolts that attach the link plate to the frame so they clear the spare tire.
When we purchased our new trailer I listened to the dealer who said that the only hitch that would work with the BAL/NORCO frame was the e2 hitch manufactured by Progress manufacturing, the dealer may be correct if they installed the proper link plates rather than the universal link plates that come standard with the e2 hitch. After waiting over 30 days since placing an order for the correct link plates I decided there had to be a better alternative solutions to correct the constant shifting of the universal link plates that are provided with the e2 Hitch. The e2 is not the only hitch that will work on the BAL/NORCO frame.
  • Just put a 1/2" tack weld on the L bracket. Won't hurt the frame at all. I ran my EQ 4pt with tack welds for several years and had no issues. Also if you have trouble with the L bracket plates bending when tightening then cut some pieces of 1/2" conduit 2" long to use a spacers between the brackets above and below the tongue.
