- APTExplorerI have camped for 3 days with my family with no hookups on original house battery. All the lights in the camper operate on 12V DC. The fridge electronics run on 12V DC with propane to cool it. The water pump runs off 12V DC. The only things we use the 110V AC for are electric griddle, coffee pot, microwave, and air conditioning.
That said, some $1 Harbor Freight flashlights seems like a far cheaper solution that fuel for a generator, let alone the noise and inconvenience of one. - BumpyroadExplorerfor the OPs needs a set of 4 D cells would almost be enough. any cheap battery lying around would suffice, no need to get a $200 one :)
bumpy - Shadow_CatcherExplorerNo you do not have a spot for a marine battery, you have a spot for a deep cycle battery, not the same thing. I hate generators, noisy stinky things why would you run it for anything other than AC?
We camped for eight days with only a solar panel powering everything including our 12 refrigerator.

What trailer do you have???
Most trailers need a battery to operate lights, water pump, furnace, water heater....items that need 12V DC power.
And a lot use the trailer battery to provide 12V DC power to trailer brakes if Emergency Break Away Switch should get pulled out.
So what trailer do you have??? - wmosesExplorer

Not only advantageous but appreciated by your campground neighbours. - opnspacesNavigator III would say so, unless you need your generator for something like the air conditioner. It seems like a wast of fuel and a lot of noise for the benefit of having power if you decide you want to turn on a light in the middle of the night.
Another benefit if you tow the trailer is it will need the battery to activate the emergency breakaway switch if the trailer becomes disconnected. This will put the trailer brakes on in a disconnect situation and hopefully keep the trailer from crossing into incoming traffic and killing someone. - Artum_SnowbirdExplorerHonestly, if you only need a battery to run lights and not pumps and fridges like most others, you would be much better off to get a few cheap LED push button lights. We use about three or four in our rig, just run off AAA batteries, and the batteries last for years in some cases.
For a couple of dollars at a dollar store you can get some pretty fancy setups and they really do a great job. A lot cheaper than any other solution. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
Yes, the battery is intended to run the interior lights.
