I wonder if that was the 370hp/800tq 68RFE Cummins powertrain in the Ram, or the 385hp/850tq 69ASC version? That would make a difference in the performance.
We tested the Aisin.
Wow, 43 post, did you just join to promote Ford and justify test results? do you also promote racing while towing trailers? I value my family's safety more than that.
So, Ford believes that the faster one can tow, whether safe or not is "ok", no matter who is put in danger...first one to the top of the hill wins mentality? - NC_HaulerExplorer

Truth is in the details...
Ford was running a 4.30 rear, GM was running a 3.73.
Mike Rowe was narrating. Doesn't he work for Ford...
Who conducted this test...Ford or independent?
same old same old....closer...but again, a 2015 against a 2013..How many HP in the 2015 Ford? did someone say 500HP? Son, that's great, if so, it's a 115 HP more than the Ram and 97 or so more than the GM?? I'm asking because i really don't known.. What is the GVWR of the 2015 Ford? again, curious...
SOOOOO if Ram conducted their own test with a 2013 truck like in the test versus a 2013Ford( not a 2015), configured like in the test..."IF" Ram won, I guess the Ford people would say the test was poppy-cock...
Here's what I'll do, based on the test..first time I'm in a hurry to race someone up the side of a mountain while towing, I'll go with a Ford...seeing as how I'll NEVER be in a racing competition while towing only 16,000# up the side of a mountain...I'll stick with what I have.
I also don't need to go to Arizona to do that test....I 26 from TN into NC has 6-7% grade for over 9 miles UPHILL and it can also hit 91 degrees there also, with much higher humidity, which makes it even harder to cool down the vehicle...You also have I 64 from Sandstone Falls WV heading towards I77 in Beckley, there is a little over a 7 mile stretch, (up hill and down) that is all 7%...I've found I can tow up the side of both these mountains at speed limit fairly easily...(speed limit in WV is 70, but I only run 60-62...works better mpg, but could go faster if I was racing...but I'm not trying to see "how fast I can get to the top of the mountain).....
Congrats to Ford, took a 2015 truck with the 4:30 and was faster to the top of the mountain than the 13' Ram...I'm keeping my Ram.... - 4x4ordExplorer III

Axle ratio isn't going to make a huge difference. For instance when the Ford is running full out at 2900 rpm in 3rd gear with 4.30 rear gears the Chevy would be traveling exactly the same speed in second gear at 3000 rpm with 3.73 gears. So the Ford got the benefit of using one extra gear to get rolling. Not a big deal on a 4 mile race. - The_Mad_NorskyExplorerKind of ridiculous.
A 2015 Ford, obviously running the newer 500 horse (about) 6.7L diesel versus trucks two model years older, 2013's, with each 2013 about 100 horsepower less than the Ford.
Plus add in the different axle ratios shown. 4:30 vs 3:73 and so on.
I'd say Ram and Chevy didn't really show that badly then. All moved a good sized load up steep grades in relatively good time when compared with a model two years and 100 horsepower ahead of them. - VulcaneerExplorerYeah...Whatever...This whole thread is stupid. And to speculate the results would be different in 200K miles is even more ridiculous. Who cares? I certainly don't.

Nope...Ford wins. GM second...Ram last...again.
:h If I recall correctly the Ram bet out the GM or are you talking about something else?
Don - chevorExplorerWhat they dont give us is the the speed's those trucks are pulling the trailers. At those distances raced the NUT willing to go the fastest is gonna win or wipeout.
Would you be willing to pass a trailer waving all over the rode? - VulcaneerExplorer
