Why don't you just wear it? I don't get this mindset. I even used the seat belts in my '63 Chevy, and every vehicle since. I don't even back out of the garage without buckling up.
I'm never on any road when I'm not wearing it. I just don't want the **** seat belt on if I'm driving slowly down a forest service road while camping or hunting or driving around on my dad's place (farm) helping him irrigate or whatever. Outside of those scenarios I never fail to wear it.
I am in the same boat. I am in and out of my truck many times at the farm getting out to open the many cattle gates on the place and such. The same goes for the deer lease when I am filling feeders. I didn't want to keep putting on my seat belt every few of minutes especially when I was never going over 15 mph. Turning off the alarm was one of the first things I did when I got the truck.
at least on all the GM vehicles I've owned, disabling the seat belt chime has been "easy peasy". just unplug one wire to the seatbelt socket.
Why do I do it?? Well I always buckle up AFTER I start the car. Just an old habit. so I hate the chime. this fixes it.
Now I have a couple of other vehicles were the mfg didn't make it near as easy, they have a couple of ways to determine a belt is coupled, and just pulling or swapping wires wont' do it. So..... I have to put up with the seatbelt chime.
