wonder that the AH rating on a 89 dollar battery runs.. The crown and trojan 6v batteries run 225AH? more or less.. they tend to run 160 buck each but with batteries you get what you pay for..If money is tight wait a few months, save up some more money and get the better deal. the cheaper batteries will cost more in the long run.Ron3rd wrote:
Costco has the Interstate 6v GC batteries right now for $89.00 which would push the bill to about $220 once you figure in battery boxes, some cable, etc., so maybe not in the budget. Great option though if one can swing it.
Someone on this forum said the 6v Costco's are not the full 225AH like the Trojans, but are somewhere less around 215. If you check the specs on the 6v Interstate, it should say what it is. Still not a bad deal for $89. Gdetrailer wrote:

For 6v under $100 go to Sam's Club or Costco. Call first as not available in all locations.
Sams Club - Golf Battery GC2
6V GC batts from Sams are the best bang for the buck.. However the OP specifically stated that the budget is $100 total which would rule out 6V GC batts.
$100 total is about one battery only.

I've always had good luck with the DieHard Marine Batteries sold by Sears.
Good warranty.
Don't waste your money at Sears, period.
Their Diehards are NOT what they used to be AND they are considerably more expensive than Walmart or Sams club.
Example, DWs truck went through TWO Diehards within one year, the warranty is "prorated" for three years got about 1/2 "back" on the first battery (I had to pay 1/2 the price for the replacement). The replacement battery warranty is only good till the end of the ORIGINAL battery warranty.
The replacement died a quick death, lasting only 5 months..
So, the first battery cost $150, the replacement battery cost me $75 for a total of $225!
Sams battery in the same size cost me $85 and so far going on three years!
Ran into the same problem with a odd sized battery for a diesel tractor.. Solved the same way, buying one from Sams club.. - GdetrailerExplorer III

Since the OPs budget doesn't allow for better GC batts then basically they are stuck buying a "combo" "marine/RV" type battery. In a nutshell a combo marine/RV is a compromise in Ahr cap and even starting capacity.. It will work but not as well as something like a GC battery.
Price out a marine/RV battery at Walmart or Sams club, get the largest your budget can afford.
I used a group 27 in my first TT and I could run a small RV furnace (12K BTU) all night and a few incandescent lights for a few hrs and have a little battery left by morning.
Compared to my current TT which I have a residential fridge, LED lights and a 30K BTU furnace run from one pair of 6V GC batts and I have enough capacity to go 24 hrs before recharging.
One marine/RV battery just would not have enough capacity for my current setup nor would it tolerate being drawn down below 80% DOD (Depth Of Discharge) for more than a few cycles (in other words they only can be drawn down 20% of the max capacity for longest life).
GC batteries are able to withstand regular DOD below 50% and have lots of life left in them.. My 6V GC batts are now 8 yrs old and still able to power my TT for 24hrs. - For 6v under $100 go to Sam's Club or Costco. Call first as not available in all locations.

Whats your guy's opinions on 2 12v vs 2 6v in parallel... will the 6v's really last that much longer?
12 volts in parallel
6 volts in series
The 6 volt GC's are true deep cycle & are designed for multiple cycles. - wickedstang03ExplorerWhats your guy's opinions on 2 12v vs 2 6v in parallel... will the 6v's really last that much longer?
